Man detained in Surkhandarya for illegally holding and torturing a Tajik citizen

A man who illegally detained and tortured a citizen of Tajikistan has been apprehended in Denau city, Surkhandarya region, according to the State Security Service.

It was reported that a resident of Denau city, born in 1993, unlawfully held a Tajik citizen born in 1993 and residing in Dushanbe.

According to the investigation, the suspect had previously given 11,000 US dollars to an acquaintance born in 1988 who lives in Dushanbe. As collateral, the acquaintance’s partner was kept in Denau city.

After the money was not returned on time, the Tajik citizen was held captive and subjected to various forms of torture, resulting in serious bodily injuries.

A criminal case has been opened against the Denau resident, and a preventive measure in the form of detention has been applied.

Earlier, it was reported that individuals posing as law enforcement officers had been detained in Andijan region.
