An assistant judge of the Termiz district court in Surkhandarya region was caught accepting a bribe of $800, the State Security Service reported.

According to the report, the assistant judge of the Termiz district court on criminal cases abused his official position. He allegedly took 500,000 soums in advance and later demanded an additional $800 in exchange for creating favorable conditions for an offender in an administrative case being considered by the district court.

During a joint operation conducted in Termez city by the Surkhandarya regional office of the State Security Service and the regional office of the Department for combating economic crimes under the Prosecutor General’s Office, the assistant judge was caught red-handed while receiving $800 through his relative as an intermediary.

It was reported that a criminal case has been opened against him under Article 168 (Fraud), part 3, paragraph ’’v’’, and Article 28, 211 (Bribery), part 1 of the Criminal Code. He has been placed in custody as a preventive measure, and investigative actions are ongoing.
