Prosecutor caught with a bribe in Surkhandarya

A prosecutor in the Surkhandarya region was caught taking a bribe of $1,300. This was reported in the “Axborot 24” program.

According to reports, the prosecutor of the Surkhandarya regional prosecutor’s office, abusing his official position, demanded $2,000 in exchange for ensuring that pre-investigation materials collected by the investigation department under the Denov district Internal Affairs Department against a citizen born in 1999 would not lead to the initiation of a criminal case, despite containing signs of a crime.

On September 5 of this year, the prosecutor transferred 5 million soums of the requested amount to a bank card registered in his name. During an operational operation conducted by the State Security Service in the city of Termez, he was detained with material evidence while receiving $1,300 of the bribe.

A criminal case has been initiated against the prosecutor under Part 3, Clause “c” of Article 168 (fraud) of the Criminal Code, and a preventive measure in the form of arrest has been applied.

It is worth noting that earlier in the city of Angren, Tashkent region, a senior investigator of the Investigation Department was caught accepting a $5,000 bribe. He had demanded $10,000 in exchange for not initiating a criminal case against a citizen and for refraining from taking procedural measures within the framework of his pre-investigation.
