Judge dismissed for stealing a car while drunk

On May 7, a minor was detained in Termiz, Surkhandarya region, for stealing a Cobalt vehicle, according to the regional Road Traffic Safety Department.

The incident occurred at 10:18 PM, when the suspect took the car from a shopping complex in Termiz. Authorities swiftly initiated a regional operation to intercept the stolen vehicle. The car was later spotted in the Jarkorgan district, where the suspect ignored police stop signals and attempted to escape using alternate routes.

At 11:40 PM, officers successfully halted the vehicle, but the suspect fled into a wheat field. The young offender was caught on the M-41 international highway, between Jarkorgan and Kumkorgan districts, at the 1,561-kilometer mark.

During questioning, the teen admitted to stealing the vehicle due to debts from online gambling, stating that he had lost $2,000.

Authorities have now filed a criminal case under Article 267 (Vehicle Theft), Part 1 of the Criminal Code, and investigations are ongoing.

Previously, in the Fergana region, a 14-year-old boy received a conditional three-year prison sentence for stealing his neighbor’s car.
