«Drug couriers» are detained, carrying 154 kg of «hashish» in Surkhandarya

At the border customs post «Ayritom» in Surkhandarya region an attempt to smuggle narcotic drugs «hashish» in packages of 1305 counterfeit «potatoes» weighing more than 154 kg has been revealed. This has been reported to QALAMPIR.UZ by the press secretary of the State Customs Committee, Husan Tangriev.

It was noted that the truck, which entered the border customs post «Ayritom» in Surkhandarya region, was to pass through Uzbekistan and leave for the neighboring country through the border customs post «Dustlik» in Andijan region. According to the documents, more than 22 tons of potatoes had been loaded on it in 533 bags.

When inspecting the vehicle at the checkpoint, the x-ray picture of the cargo aroused suspicion among customs officers. As a result, in 38 of the 533 bags of potatoes in the car, 1305 skillfully prepared packages in the form of potatoes – drugs were found” – the report said.

The total weight of the drug «Hashish» in these packages was 154 kg, 90 grams. The criminals used polyethylene, black copying paper, and a sealing tape to cover every package and hide the drugs.

According to the report, criminal proceedings have been initiated by the customs authorities.
