119 kg of narcotic substances seized in Surkhandarya

A total of 119 kilograms of narcotic substances were seized in Surkhandarya region during the first 25 days of the “Safe and Healthy Country” preventive operation, according to the regional Department of Internal Affairs.

It was reported that since March 1, more than 200 drug-related cases have been identified. In total, 119 kg and 691 grams of narcotic substances, along with 9,500 units of potent pharmaceutical drugs, were confiscated as evidence.

By district, Termez district recorded the highest volume, with 96 kg and 631 grams of narcotic substances seized. In Sariosiyo district, 14 kg and 682 grams were confiscated across 13 cases, while in Shurchi district, 8 kg and 65 grams were seized in 13 cases. Overall, nearly 120 kilograms of various narcotic substances were prevented from entering circulation, and legal measures were taken against those involved.

In addition, the illegal sale of 1,625 prohibited pharmaceutical drugs was prevented in Kizirik district, and 7,340 units were seized in Uzun district. The substances were confiscated as evidence, and appropriate legal action was taken against the offenders.

It is worth noting that earlier, a suspect was detained in Termez district while attempting to smuggle 72 kilograms of narcotics disguised as potatoes.
