Sohibjon Murodov appointed head of State Assets Agency

Sohibjon G‘ofurjonovich Murodov has been appointed Director of the State Assets Management Agency of Uzbekistan by presidential decree, the president’s press secretary announced.

Murodov was born in 1987 and holds a higher education degree. He graduated from the Tashkent Institute of Textile and Light Industry in 2010 and the Banking and Finance Academy in 2015. He began his career as a cashier at the Rakat branch of Uzsanoatqurilishbank. From 2013 to 2017, he worked at the State Committee for Privatization, Demonopolization and Competition Development as a chief specialist, deputy head of department, and acting head of department. Between 2017 and 2021, he served as a leading inspector and later chief inspector at the Accounts Chamber. Since 2021, he had been working as director of the Electronic Online Auction Organization Center.

Earlier, on January 27, the previous head of the State Assets Management Agency, Akmalkhon Ortiqov, was dismissed. Officials at the agency were found to have sold a land plot worth at least 250 billion soums through a closed auction for 120 billion soums. The compliance service instructed the State Security Service to involve specialists from its economic divisions in the investigation into the criminal case against agency officials.
