Cracking Down on Illegal Fishing: 25 Poachers Face Consequences in Syrdarya

3662Since the beginning of this year, measures have been taken against 25 poachers who were illegally fishing in Syrdarya. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Natural Resources of Syrdarya region.
It is worth noting that, as of the 11th of May 2023, administrative reports have been issued in 25 cases related to illegal fishing in the Syrdarya region. Offenders have been fined a total of 36,600,000 soms, and they were also held liable for causing 51,480,000 soms worth of damage to nature.
The most recent incident of illegal fishing in the region involved a citizen identified as X.X. On the night of 10th-11th of May 2023, he was found illegally catching a total of 17 fish of three different species using prohibited fishing equipment from the Sydarya river, which flows through Gulistan district.
To serve as evidence, the offending citizen's possession of 1 electric fishing rod, 1 battery, and the 17 illegally caught fish of three different species were confiscated and temporarily stored.
The offender was found to have caused damage amounting to 15,840,000 soms to the animal world. Consequently, an administrative report was filed against the citizen in accordance with Article 90, Part 4 of the Code of Administrative Responsibility of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
