Uzbekistan-China biotechnology cluster will be established in Syrdarya

An Uzbekistan-China bio-technology cluster will be established in Syrdarya with an investment of 500 million dollars.  This was announced today, 7 April, at the session of the Regional Council of People’s Deputies held in Syrdarya under the chairmanship of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev.

The head of state put forward 5 new initiatives aimed at increasing the well-being of the residents of Syrdarya.

According to the first initiative, a regime of special privileges will be introduced for projects in 20 fields of biopharmaceuticals, construction materials, agriculture, food, electrical engineering, medicine, and education in the area of advanced innovations:

 • exemption from land, property, profit and turnover taxes and customs duties for up to 3 years;
 • plots of land are allocated in a simplified manner, paying in installments will be permitted for up to 5 years for the purchase of land and buildings;
 • the rate of repayment of interest payments will be doubled.

Also, as part of the first initiative, an Uzbek-Chinese bio-technology cluster will be established in Syrdarya with an investment of 500 million dollars.  In this cluster, together with the leading universities of China, an international education and research university, an innovative medical clinic, a Central Asian genome center, and a cell therapy center for the treatment of oncological diseases will be established in Gulistan.

Also, the cluster produces modern diagnostic devices, innovative vaccines, probiotics and medicines for oncological diseases.  Educational buildings, a modern campus, laboratories, and an engineering school will be established for 10,000 students.
