Driver who hit 2 children in Syrdarya sentenced to prison

3807A driver who fatally struck two schoolchildren in the Sardoba district of the Syrdarya region has been sentenced to eight years and six months in prison. This was reported by the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
According to the report, a 24-year-old man was driving his father’s car when he violated traffic rules and exceeded the speed limit, hitting two pedestrians on the side of the road. The accident occurred on the Pakhtabad–Yangiabad road when the driver increased his speed and sharply turned the steering wheel, resulting in the fatal collision.
It was noted that the car was traveling at a speed of 118 kilometers per hour.
The case was reviewed by the Sardoba District Criminal Court. During the trial, the legal representatives of the victims demanded the maximum punishment for the defendant. As a result, the driver was found guilty under Article 266, Part 3, Subparagraph “a” of the Criminal Code (violation of traffic rules or vehicle safety resulting in the death of individuals). He was sentenced to eight years and six months in prison and disqualified from driving for three years.
It should be recalled that earlier in Tashkent, two men were sentenced to 20 years in prison after strangling their acquaintance to death.
