6097Claudio Ranieri has been appointed head coach of AS Roma, the Italian club where Eldor Shomurodov, captain of the Uzbekistan national team, is currently playing, according to the official website of the club.
Roma's official website announced that the 73-year-old Ranieri will lead the team until the end of the season. Afterward, he will transition to a senior management role, where he will serve as a sports consultant. Ranieri’s input will also be considered in Roma’s search for a permanent head coach.
A native of Rome, Ranieri has a long history with the club, having played for Roma during the 1973-74 season and previously managing the team in 2009-2011 and again in 2019.
His coaching career includes leading various European teams, and he famously guided Leicester City to a historic Premier League victory in the 2015-2016 season.
Last season, Ranieri was the head coach of Cagliari, where Shomurodov played on loan.
Ranieri’s return to Roma was rumored recently, and now he takes on the role, with his experience expected to provide stability and leadership for the club.
