Shavkat Mirziyoyev meets President of the EBRD

On January 22, on the sidelines of events in Davos, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev held a meeting with President of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) Odile Renaud-Basso. This was reported by the press service of the Uzbek leader.

According to the report, the meeting focused on practical aspects of further deepening the strategic partnership and expanding cooperation with the leading international financial institution.

The bank’s cooperation with Uzbekistan has a stable strategic character. Uzbekistan remains the EBRD’s largest partner in the region, with total investments reaching nearly $7 billion. In 2025, the volume of operations, including funding directed to the private sector, exceeded $1 billion.

The EBRD’s contribution to the development of green energy, modernization of transport infrastructure, implementation of environmental programs, reform of the financial market, and promotion of entrepreneurship was highly praised.

Priority areas of cooperation for the current year were outlined, including the development of the private sector and infrastructure, digital transformation of railway transport, and a number of other issues.

Special attention was paid to continuing programs aimed at training women and young people in modern professions and business skills.

It is worth noting that earlier reports said Shavkat Mirziyoyev took part in the signing ceremony of the charter of the “Peace Council” in Davos, Switzerland, through which Uzbekistan became one of the founding states of the organization. The event, chaired by U.S. President Donald Trump, was attended by heads of state, prime ministers, and foreign ministers from Argentina, Armenia, Bahrain, Bulgaria, Indonesia, Jordan, Morocco, Mongolia, Azerbaijan, Paraguay, Pakistan, Qatar, Kazakhstan, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, Hungary, and other countries.
