President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and President of Russia Vladimir Putin held a meeting on May 8 as part of events in Moscow, the press service of the Uzbek leader reported.
At the beginning of the conversation, the two leaders sincerely congratulated each other on the 81st anniversary of Victory Day.
The sides discussed further expanding and strengthening Uzbekistan-Russia comprehensive strategic partnership and alliance relations as part of the implementation of agreements reached during previous high-level meetings.
They noted with satisfaction the steady growth in mutual trade, as well as the successful implementation of projects in industry, energy, metallurgy and other sectors.
The importance of adopting coordinated measures to maintain the pace of trade turnover and accelerate cooperation projects in priority sectors was emphasized. The sides also underlined the need to continue active contacts at the regional level.
Special attention was paid to further ensuring active cultural and humanitarian exchanges.
The leaders of Uzbekistan and Russia also exchanged views on issues of international importance.
Earlier, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev congratulated the people of Uzbekistan on May 9 — Remembrance and Honour Day.
