Shavkat Mirziyoyev departs for Pakistan

On February 5, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev departed for Pakistan on a state visit at the invitation of Prime Minister of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan Shehbaz Sharif, the Uzbek leader’s press service reported.
According to the press service, high-level talks and the first meeting of the Strategic Cooperation Council are scheduled to take place in Islamabad.
The discussions will focus on further strengthening Uzbekistan–Pakistan relations of friendship and strategic partnership.
At the conclusion of the summit, the signing of a Joint Declaration and a substantial package of bilateral agreements is planned.
As part of the visit’s business program, President Mirziyoyev is also expected to take part in a joint business forum and other events.
Earlier, on February 25, 2025, Prime Minister of Pakistan Shehbaz Sharif paid an official visit to Tashkent at the invitation of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev. On February 26, a formal welcoming ceremony was held in his honor at the International Congress Center in Tashkent. Shehbaz Sharif and President Mirziyoyev also held talks in both restricted and expanded formats with the participation of official delegations and delivered statements to the media. At the conclusion of the visit, the Pakistani prime minister attended the Uzbekistan–Pakistan business forum.
