Shavkat Mirziyoyev to visit Pakistan

President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev will pay a state visit to the Islamic Republic of Pakistan on February 5–6 at the invitation of Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, according to the press service of the Uzbek leader.

According to the announced program, meetings are scheduled in Islamabad with Pakistan’s President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, and the Supreme Commander of the Defence Forces and Chief of Army Staff, Field Marshal Asim Munir. The first meeting of the Strategic Cooperation Council is also planned.

Issues related to further deepening the strategic partnership and multifaceted cooperation between Uzbekistan and Pakistan will be at the center of the high-level talks.

Key aspects of expanding political dialogue and strengthening ties between the governments, parliaments, business communities, and regions of the two countries will be comprehensively discussed.

The sides will pay special attention to increasing trade turnover, advancing cooperation projects in industry, transport and infrastructure, and tourism, as well as continuing cultural and humanitarian exchanges.

An exchange of views will also take place on pressing international and regional issues.

Following the negotiations, the signing of a Joint Declaration and a substantial package of agreements in priority areas is expected.

The President of Uzbekistan will also take part in a joint business forum with representatives of leading business circles from both countries.

It is worth noting that on February 25, 2025, at the invitation of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif paid an official visit to Tashkent. On February 26, a ceremonial welcome was held at the International Congress Center in Tashkent. In addition, Shehbaz Sharif and President Shavkat Mirziyoyev held talks in both a narrow format and with the participation of delegations. They also delivered statements to the media. At the conclusion of the visit, Shehbaz Sharif attended the Uzbekistan–Pakistan Business Forum as well.
