Shavkat Mirziyoyev laid the foundation stone for the construction of the Olympic town

Today 9 November, the foundation stone for the construction of the Olympic town was laid in Tashkent.  President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev took part in the ceremony.

At the beginning of his speech, President Mirziyoyev congratulated everyone on this historic event and spoke about the importance of the project.

"We have our path, intentions, and plans.  We believe that the historic work we are doing today will bring great results.  This trust gives us strength," said Shavkat Mirziyoyev.

The head of state expressed confidence that the Olympic town will be a symbol of the creative potential of the Uzbek people and the achievements of Uzbek sports.

"I believe that the Olympic town will become a symbol of the high creative potential of our people and the universal achievements of Uzbek sports.  This place will be an architecturally perfect, energy-efficient, and modern complex incorporating the most advanced innovative solutions," said the leader of Uzbekistan.

It should be noted that the designer of the Olympic town is the Chinese company "CAMC Engineering".

In the last five years, nearly 4 trillion soms were allocated to the sports sector, 118 large facilities were commissioned and 110 were reconstructed.

In 2025, the Asian and Para-Asian Youth Games will be held in Tashkent.  At the competitions, young people from 45 countries in Asia will compete in about 20 sports.

Such a prestigious international competition is organized for the first time in the history of Uzbekistan.
