Shavkat Mirziyoyev receives AIIB delegation

On February 10, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev received a delegation led by Jin Liqun, President of the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB), the presidential press service reported.

At the beginning of the meeting, the head of state congratulated the leader of the major multilateral financial institution on assuming office.

In recent years, multifaceted cooperation with the bank has been developing rapidly. The portfolio of ongoing and prospective joint projects has exceeded $7 billion. Financing provided last year alone surpassed $1 billion.

The President of Uzbekistan emphasized the importance of expanding effective cooperation in priority areas, including support for the private sector, women and youth entrepreneurship, development and promotion of public–private partnership projects, assistance in implementing the poverty reduction program, alternative energy, energy efficiency, water supply and the development of social services.

The importance of the bank’s active participation in major infrastructure projects of regional significance was also highlighted.

For his part, Jin Liqun praised the scale of reforms in Uzbekistan and expressed readiness to continue comprehensive support for the reform program being implemented in the New Uzbekistan.
