Shavkat Mirziyoyev participates in the commemoration ceremony of Islam Karimov

Today, 2 September, president of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev visited the scientific and educational memorial complex named after Islam Karimov and laid a wreath on the foundation of the statue of the First President.  This is reported by the press service of the president of Uzbekistan.

The spouse of the first president of the Republic of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov Tatyana Karimova also took part in the ceremony.

“Islam Karimov declared the national independence of our country thirty-one years ago.  He restored our statehood and human rights and became the foundation of all our achievements and goals.  Therefore, the respect for our first president is an expression of respect for our history.

At the solemn event, the merits of Islam Karimov for the benefit of our people were recalled. The Koran was read," – the report said.

Shavkat Mirziyoyev stressed that teachers should be valued and always remembered, and this will serve as an example for the younger generation.

In addition, representatives of the Oliy Majlis (Parliament) of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the Presidential Administration, the Cabinet of Ministers, ministries and departments, and the public of the capital laid flowers at the monument to the first president.

Similar events were also held in the cities of Samarkand and Karshi.
