Shavkat Mirziyoyev awards group of cultural figures

A group of workers in the fields of culture, art and literature were awarded state honors under a decree signed by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev on May 28. A solemn award ceremony was held today, June 1, at the International Congress Center in Tashkent. President Shavkat Mirziyoyev attended the event, the presidential press service reported.

Speaking at the ceremony, the head of state said a country’s strength is determined not only by economic indicators, but also by its spirituality, culture, literature and art.

“The voice of a nation whose literature is rich, whose music is close to the heart, whose theater is lifelike, whose cinema is powerful and whose art is attractive is heard loudly around the world,” the President said.

It was noted that thanks to the devoted work of creative figures, the national spirit is being strengthened in society, public thinking is rising, and feelings of goodness, patriotism and humanity are taking deep root in the hearts of young people.

The head of state said with satisfaction that 167 leading representatives of the sector had received high state awards. He noted that the honorees include writers and poets, singers and musicians, dancers, opera performers and composers, representatives of theater, cinema and circus arts, bakhshis and askiya performers, artisans and artists, cultural heritage, museum and library workers, as well as teachers and mentors who have worked effectively for many years and made a major contribution to raising the cultural, artistic and intellectual potential of the nation.

“At the same time, deep respect was paid to the sacred memory of prominent figures of literature, culture and art who are no longer with us today, but who continue to live forever in the hearts of our people through their words, music, creativity and entire lives. Twenty-four of them were posthumously awarded state honors,” the report said.

During the ceremony, the President solemnly presented honorary titles, orders and medals to the award recipients.

The head of state sincerely congratulated the awardees on behalf of the entire nation and expressed confidence that this high recognition would inspire them to achieve new creative successes.

The award recipients expressed gratitude to the President for the high respect and attention shown to them, as well as for the broad opportunities being created for the development of culture and for creative people.
