A woman sets herself alight following a dispute

The Information Service of the Department of Internal Affairs of the city of Tashkent made a statement regarding a situation in which an unknown woman was recorded dousing herself in gasoline and then proceeding to set herself alight.  The video has caused widespread discussion on social media channels.

On 2nd of May this year at approximately 10:00 a.m., in front of a shop in the Kara-Kamish 2/4, Almazor district, a woman D.Q. born in 1981 was attempting to sell goods on the street.  However, when she was asked to move from her trading pitch, an argument arose.  The woman began to behave erratically and began protesting before pouring petrol over herself from a concealed container and setting herself alight.  The woman was admitted to hospital with a number of thermal burns on her face and both hands.  She suffered with burns to 35% of her body.

During a preliminary investigation, it was understood that D.Q had been quarreling with citizens over her trading spot, and she had tried to commit self-immolation several times, but had been prevented by other employees.

The Almazor district prosecutor’s office is investigating this situation.
