Sardor Umurzakov granted additional powers as Presidential Advisor

53969Sardor Umurzakov, the Advisor to the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan on Special Assignments, has been granted additional powers under a new Presidential Decree. The decree, titled "On Measures for the Effective Organization of Strategic Analysis and Research Activities in the Spheres of Social, Political, and Economic Development of the Country," was adopted on December 31, 2024.
The decree establishes the Coordinating Council for the Organization of Analytical and Research Structures. A key responsibility of the Coordinating Council is to regularly provide the President with long-term strategic analytical documents on the country's social, political, and economic development, along with proposals related to domestic and foreign policy.
The Coordinating Council will serve as an advisory body, organizing strategic research on domestic and foreign policy processes, while coordinating all associated activities. The Council's work will be overseen by the Presidential Advisor on Special Assignments to ensure effective interdepartmental cooperation.
The Coordinating Council will create working groups focused on the following areas:
- Security and social stability
- State and society building
- Socio-economic development
- Foreign policy and international cooperation
- Strategic planning and regional development
- Environmental issues, including climate change and water scarcity
For context, following the termination of the role of Head of the Presidential Administration of Uzbekistan in August 2023, Sardor Umurzakov was appointed as Presidential Advisor on Special Assignments. No new appointment has been made to this position.
