A tragic accident occurred in Samarkand, where a man born in 1997 hit several pedestrians with his Lacetti vehicle at a crosswalk. It was later reported on social media that a 33-year-old woman, a mother of three children, lost her life as a result of the incident.

QALAMPIR.UZ reached out to Eldor Muhammadiev, head of the press service of the Samarkand regional Health Department, to confirm the details.

According to Muhammadiev, on April 11, five individuals were brought to the Samarkand branch of the Republican Scientific Center for Emergency Medical Care. One woman died on the way to the center. The remaining four victims received medical assistance and were discharged. At present, no individuals injured in the accident are undergoing treatment at the center.

The Investigation Department of the Federal Anti-Terrorist Organization under the Samarkand city police department has launched a criminal case under Part 2 of Article 266 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Uzbekistan (Violation of traffic safety rules or vehicle operation regulations). A preventive measure in the form of an arrest has been applied to the driver. Preliminary investigations are ongoing.

It should be noted that a separate criminal case had previously been opened against another driver in the Samarkand region, who, following his football team's loss, drove his car into a crowd gathered near a stadium in front of school No. 35 in the Nurabad district.
