5232On February 4, in the Akdarya district of the Samarkand region, a driver refused to comply with a road patrol officer's instructions and dragged him by the car door. The Road Safety Service reported the incident.
According to officials, the incident occurred at the 34th kilometer of the M-37 highway, where a traffic officer approached a Cobalt car parked in a prohibited area and requested the driver’s documents. Instead of complying, the driver attempted to flee, prompting the officer to cling to the car door in an effort to stop him. Footage circulating on social media shows the Cobalt car dragging the officer.
“Yesterday, I drove away without obeying the officer, but I still ended up in their hands. I ran from the road patrol officer and landed in jail,” the driver later admitted.
The Akdarya District Prosecutor’s Office has initiated a criminal case under Part 1 of Article 19 of the Criminal Code (Liability for a crime committed while intoxicated). The driver has been detained, and preliminary investigative actions are underway.
This incident follows a similar case on January 31, when a road patrol officer in Samarkand was injured after a driver of an Onix car—lacking a state license plate—ignored the officer’s lawful stop signal and ran him over before fleeing the scene.
