5008A 68-year-old man, previously arrested and imprisoned for drug trafficking, has been apprehended once again for the same crime in the Urgut district of the Samarkand region. The arrest was reported by the regional Internal Affairs Department.
The individual, who had been released from Colony No. 37 in May this year after serving time for drug trafficking, was caught dealing drugs shortly after his release. Authorities discovered that he had secretly smuggled drugs from neighboring Tajikistan, using his close relatives to assist in the operation, with the intent to make money.
During an operation in Urgut, the man was detained by the colony's search and rescue service while attempting to sell 200 grams of drugs to an undercover operative for 60 million sums.
The authorities have emphasized that despite his previous conviction, the individual failed to learn from his past mistakes and will now face a lengthy prison sentence.
It is worth noting that in October of this year, Uzbekistan authorities seized 255.42 kilograms of illegal drugs, underscoring the ongoing efforts to combat drug trafficking in the country.
