The illegal trade of silver was halted in the Narpay district of the Samarkand region, the State Security Service reported.

According to the statement, during an operation conducted in the district, three residents of the Navoi region, born in 1980, 1983, and 1987, were detained while selling 18 kilograms of silver alloy, a precious metal, to an ’’undercover buyer.’’ They attempted to sell it for a total of $21,000, pricing each gram at 11,700 soums.

The State Assay Office under the Ministry of Economy and Finance determined that the confiscated metal weighed 16 kilograms and 744 grams in pure form and had a fineness of ’’999.’’ Additionally, the appraised market value of the silver amounted to 502 million 344 thousand soums.

A criminal case has been initiated against the suspects under Article 177, part 4 (a) of the Criminal Code (illegal acquisition or transfer of currency valuables). Measures are currently being taken to identify the source of the precious metal.

It is worth noting that earlier, ’’Kontrechnazorat’’ detained 37 individuals for illegally extracting gold during inspections at facilities in the Bukhara and Navoi regions.
