17932A 17-year-old girl in Samarkand has been accused of stealing gold jewelry worth 120 million sums from her own home, according to the Investigation Department under the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
On March 11, a 41-year-old resident of the Obod Maskan neighborhood in Samarkand, identified as M.N., reported the theft to the Samarkand city internal affairs department via the emergency number 102. The victim stated that between 08:00 and 13:00 on the same day, an unknown individual unlawfully entered the house by picking the lock and stole 15 pieces of gold jewelry from the bedroom, amounting to a total value of 120 million sums. M.N. requested authorities to identify the culprit, take legal action, and assist in recovering the losses.
Following the report, a criminal case was initiated under Part 3, Clause “c” of Article 169 (Theft) of the Criminal Code against the unidentified suspect.
Through investigative and operational efforts, law enforcement determined that the perpetrator was the victim’s own 17-year-old daughter, S.R. Further inquiries revealed that the stolen gold had been sold, and the proceeds—amounting to $1,300—were found stored at a friend’s house. The money was confiscated as material evidence in the presence of witnesses. The investigation is still ongoing.
It is worth noting that a similar incident recently occurred in the Bukhara region, where a citizen was arrested for stealing gold jewelry worth 23 million sums. The suspect was identified during investigative procedures, and a criminal case was filed under Part 2 of Article 169 (Theft) of the Criminal Code.
