Person selling 5 kg of “marijuana” detained in Samarkand

3605A man was detained in Samarkand for attempting to sell 5 kg of marijuana for 10,000 US dollars. This was reported by the Rapid Investigation Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
According to the report, on January 10, officers from the Samarkand Regional Internal Affairs Department conducted an operation in Bulungur district. Information was received that a 1981-born individual from Bulungur had planned to sell 1 kg of marijuana for 25 million sums. However, the suspect had arranged for a larger shipment of approximately 5 kg of marijuana for sale.
During the operation, which involved officers from the Samarkand Regional Internal Affairs Department, the regional TVBSO, and the regional customs service, the individual was detained with evidence of the sale. The marijuana, valued at 10,000 US dollars, was confiscated.
A criminal case has been opened under Part 5 of Article 273 of the Criminal Code, which pertains to the illegal preparation, acquisition, storage, and trafficking of narcotic drugs, their analogues, or psychotropic substances. Investigations are ongoing.
Earlier, in Tashkent, a 51-year-old man known as a "stoker" was detained after storing 79 packages of narcotics in the hallway of his house. A forensic chemical examination was ordered on the seized substances, and the suspect was detained for further investigation.
