Farmer in Samarkand accused of selling state land illegally

A farmer was caught attempting to sell 18 acres of land in the Samarkand region for $25,000, the Department for Combating Economic Crimes under the Prosecutor General's Office reported.

According to the report, during an operational operation conducted jointly with the Samarkand regional branch of the department and the Internal Affairs Directorate, the head of the "N.N." farm in Samarkand district, identified as N.N., agreed to sell 18 acres of land in the "Badal" neighborhood to citizen M.A. for $25,000. He allegedly received $8,000 as a deposit and was detained with material evidence upon receiving the remaining $17,000.

A criminal case has been initiated under Article 168 of the Criminal Code (fraud), and investigative actions are underway.

It is worth noting that earlier in the Bukhara region, the head of a farm was arrested for attempting to sell 16.9 hectares of land on the farm’s balance sheet for $56,000.
