Between 16-18 May this year, the annual conference of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development will be held in Samarkand.  This was announced by the Minister of Culture and Tourism Ozodbek Nazarbekov.

Minister Nazarbekov said that today, on 2 February, he met with Kazuhiko Koguchi, the Secretary General of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, who came to Uzbekistan to familiarize himself with the progress of preparations for this prestigious international event.

"At the initiative of our president, a memorandum of cooperation on holding this event will be signed in ancient and modern Samarkand, which has hosted several international conferences," the minister said.

It is noted that about 2,000 guests, including 73 bank managers, heads of ministries and agencies, and representatives of various companies from all over the world, are expected to attend the annual conference of the EBRD.

"This will attract foreign investments to Uzbekistan and create an opportunity to once again widely demonstrate the tourism potential of our country.

Also, foreign guests who will visit the upcoming prestigious event will get to know the best examples of the intangible cultural heritage of our country, attractive tourism potential, gastronomy, handicrafts and folk art," added the minister.

Kazuhiko promised to open a separate page on the EBRD website in order to promote this conference on a global scale.

"We think that all the issues discussed at the international event will serve to strengthen cooperation, increase the economic potential of our dear Motherland and raise its image in the world even more," hopes Ozodbek Nazarbekov.
