Samarkand International Airport was temporarily closed

Today, 5 December, from 4:20 a.m. local time, a temporary restriction for the reception and departure of aircraft was introduced at the Samarkand International Airport due to worsening weather conditions.  This was reported by Uzbekistan Airports Press Service.

According to the latest information, the visibility is up to 1000 meters and it is snowing.  The air temperature is -5 degrees.  The coefficient of friction is equal to 0.28.
It was reported that Aeroflot flight SU-1874 on the Moscow-Samarkand route and Turkish Airlines flight TK-372 on the Istanbul-Samarkand route were diverted to an alternative airport in Tashkent.

According to the report, due to weather conditions, a decision was made to extend the restrictions on the reception and departure of aircraft until 13:00 p.m. local time.

"Currently, the ground service staff of the airport are taking all necessary measures - for several hours, the runway and walkways are being cleaned with the help of special equipment and chemical means," the report says.
