3450On October 9, Uzbekistan's Minister of Foreign Affairs, Bakhtiyor Saidov, met with Abdul Ghaffar Teravi, the newly appointed ambassador of Afghanistan sent by the Taliban. Saidov shared the news of the meeting via his Telegram channel.
Abdul Ghaffar Teravi assumed his role as the head of Afghanistan's diplomatic mission in Uzbekistan at the end of September. During the meeting, both parties emphasized the importance of strengthening relations between Uzbekistan and Afghanistan, unlocking untapped potential, and developing new projects that benefit the people of both nations.
Teravi expressed his appreciation on behalf of the Taliban for Uzbekistan’s continued support.
"The discussions touched on various bilateral, regional, and global issues," Saidov noted.
In February, Uzbekistan handed over the Afghan embassy to Taliban-appointed diplomats, with Mugfurullah Shahab initially appointed as the ambassador. However, in April, Abdul Ghaffar Teravi replaced Shahab. Teravi was officially introduced as Afghanistan’s ambassador to Uzbekistan in August by Zakir Jalali, director of the third political department of the Taliban interim government.
Earlier, it was reported that Abdul Ghaffar Teravi had arrived in Tashkent to begin his mission, greeted by his predecessor, Mugfurullah Shahab, and Yodgorkhoja Shodmonov, who had completed his 12-year tenure as Uzbekistan’s ambassador to Afghanistan.
