Uzbekistan’s Foreign Minister Bakhtiyor Saidov held a meeting with his Iranian counterpart Abbas Arakchi on July 15 in Tianjin, China. Saidov shared details of the meeting on his official Telegram channel.

“We exchanged views with Mr. Arakchi on further deepening our multifaceted relations based on our centuries-old common history, culture, and economic cooperation,” Saidov wrote.

The ministers discussed the growing volume of trade between Uzbekistan and Iran and explored new avenues for expanding bilateral cooperation.

“We emphasized the significant untapped potential for developing our relations in areas of mutual interest. Once again, we confirmed the vital role of diplomacy in ensuring regional peace, prosperity, and sustainable development,” Saidov added.

The meeting took place on the sidelines of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Council of Foreign Ministers, hosted in Tianjin under China’s chairmanship. The event focused on the SCO-2035 Development Strategy, the Tianjin Declaration, and joint initiatives in trade, transport, and security that are expected to be adopted at the upcoming summit of heads of state.

It should be noted that earlier on the same day, Saidov also met with Chinese President Xi Jinping and conveyed to him the sincere greetings and best wishes of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev of Uzbekistan.
