On July 17, Uzbek Foreign Minister Bakhtiyor Saidov held meetings with two ministers from the Taliban’s interim government during a visit to Kabul. Saidov shared details of the meetings on his official Telegram channel.
According to the minister, initial political consultations were held with the Taliban's acting Foreign Minister, Mawlavi Amir Khan Muttaqi.

“We reaffirmed our strong commitment to regional connectivity, joint water resource management, economic cooperation, support for education, and the restoration of cultural heritage,” Saidov wrote.
He emphasized that Uzbekistan will continue to support Afghanistan’s deeper integration into regional and global processes to promote lasting peace, stability, and shared development.
Foreign Minister Saidov also met with the Taliban’s acting Minister of Interior, Khalifa Sirojiddin Haqqani. He noted growing cooperation between Uzbekistan and Afghanistan in the areas of security, law enforcement, and regional stability.

“We especially acknowledged the efforts of the Afghan Ministry of Internal Affairs to significantly improve the security situation in the country and combat drug production,” Saidov said.
It is worth recalling that earlier reports stated that Minister Saidov, leading a high-level Uzbek delegation, traveled to Kabul to participate in a trilateral meeting involving Taliban and Pakistani officials.
