The chairman of the medical committee of the Football Association of Uzbekistan, the chief doctor of the Lokomotiv club, Abror Piriyev, gave advice to the fasting players taking part in the Uzbekistan competitions.  Pirriyev’s recommendations were published on the website of the spokesperson of the Ministry of Health, Furkat Sanayev.

According to the doctor, during training or a game, a player gets their energy from the food they ate in the morning.  Therefore, it is important to drink enough fluids and eat protein-rich foods before fasting.

“It is better to avoid fried, salty, fatty, spicy, and very sweet foods in the morning,” says the football doctor.

Piriyev also suggested what kind of foods the players should eat during the morning and iftar and what their daily schedule should be.

“Dried foods, dairy products, eggs, porridge are acceptable.  Salads, liquid, legumes and non-digestible dishes, fruits are allowed at Iftar.  After breakfast, you should not go to sleep immediately, but rather take a walk in the fresh air, read or do housework.  You will not have a post meal energy slump, and now the sun’s heat is much stronger.  After a good sleep, you can gather strength and go to training in the evening (footballers have the conditions for this).  It will be close to iftar,” Piriyev added.
