Yesterday, September 1, eight people from Uzbekistan died in a minibus accident in the Nizhny Novgorod region of Russia. This was reported by the press service of the Road Safety Inspection of the Nizhny Novgorod region.

On the M-12 highway, the minibus driver lost control of the vehicle, which hit the barrier twice before overturning. There were 12 people in the minibus. As a result of the accident, eight people died at the scene. The driver and three passengers were hospitalized. Eleven of the occupants were citizens of Uzbekistan and were working legally in Russia.

The driver, a 32-year-old citizen of Tajikistan, stated that the minibus collided with a truck, which caused him to lose control and resulted in the fatal accident.

A criminal case has been initiated under Article 264, Part 5 of the Criminal Code of Russia (violation of traffic rules and vehicle operation that led to the death of two or more people through negligence).

Currently, investigative efforts are underway, and several experts have been appointed. The driver and three passengers remain hospitalized.

We remind you that in January of this year, seven citizens of Uzbekistan died at the scene in a tragic traffic accident involving a truck and a minibus on the M-5 Ural highway in the Penza region of Russia. On the President's order, the bodies of the deceased Uzbeks were repatriated to the Khorezm region on January 13. In April, eight citizens of Uzbekistan were killed in an accident on the Samara-Shymkent highway near the village of Marjonbulok in Kazakhstan's Aktobe region. They were also repatriated to Uzbekistan on a special flight.
