On August 26, a 30-year-old Uzbek man was killed after being crushed by a rockfall at a mine in the Kuraginsky district of Russia’s Krasnoyarsk Territory. The incident was reported by the regional prosecutor’s office.

According to preliminary information, the man, who was working at the Artyomovsky Rudnik JSC mine on a labor patent, was drilling to reinforce a rock face when a section of rock collapsed. He was trapped under the debris and died at the scene from his injuries.

At the time of the accident, the mine was operating as usual with 48 workers underground. No other injuries were reported. Security measures have been put in place in the area where the incident occurred.

The prosecutor’s office has launched an inspection into the employer’s compliance with labor protection and industrial safety regulations. Specialists from the Labor Inspectorate and Rostekhnadzor are assisting in the investigation, and authorities are considering opening a criminal case.

For reference, the Artyomovsky Rudnik mine specializes in extracting precious metals.

Earlier, in a separate incident, an Uzbek citizen was found with stab wounds and a bag over his head in the Lisiy Nos forest near St. Petersburg. Investigators determined he had been kidnapped in Sestroretsk. The victim was hospitalized.
