Three gold seekers trapped under collapsed mine in Navoi

On July 7, three out of four citizens who went to a mountainous area in Khatirchi district of Navoi region to mine gold fell into an illegally dug pit. The regional Department of Emergency Situations reported this.

According to the report, at 04:22, four citizens went to the mountainous area of Quvray village in the Angidon mahalla of Khatirchi district, Navoi region, to illegally mine gold. Three of them fell into an illegally dug pit in the mining area and were trapped under soil.

One of their companions, who remained outside, immediately informed nearby residents and the Navoi Regional Department of Emergency Situations about the incident.

Before rescuers arrived at the scene, the companion who remained outside and local residents pulled one citizen out of the pit.

Rescuers from the Department of Emergency Situations arrived at the scene and rescued two more citizens who had been trapped under soil in the pit.

It was reported that the rescued citizens were taken to a relevant medical facility to receive medical assistance.

Earlier, it was reported that during an operational event conducted in Tomdi, Konimex and Khatirchi districts of Navoi region, cases of illegal gold mining and gold extraction from sand by citizens had been identified.
