The Embassy of Uzbekistan in Russia has urged Uzbeks illegally staying in the country to resolve their legal status immediately. The embassy's press service reported this.

By the decree of Russian President Vladimir Putin, the Register of Controlled Persons, maintained by the Ministry of Internal Affairs, will begin operating in the country from February 5, 2025.

This register will include foreign citizens who have committed administrative offenses in the field of migration legislation. They must leave Russia or apply to the territorial body of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia at their place of residence or a branch of the Federal State Unitary Enterprise "PVS" (Passport and Visa Service) to resolve their legal status in the period from January 1 to April 30, 2025.

At the same time, foreigners residing in Moscow are required to apply to the multifunctional migration center "Sakharovo".

According to the embassy, the Russian side emphasizes that during the amnesty period, measures related to deportation, placement in special detention facilities, and subsequent restrictions on entry into the country will not be applied to foreign citizens under this decree.

Foreign citizens included in the register of controlled persons are prohibited from:

  1. purchasing and registering real estate and vehicles;
  2. getting married;
  3. establishing legal entities or firms and registering as individual entrepreneurs;
  4. opening bank accounts and performing banking operations;
  5. driving vehicles.

It will also be impossible to admit minor foreign citizens illegally present on Russian territory to educational institutions (schools and kindergartens).

Uzbeks in this country can check their legal status on the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs official website.

Recall that on December 19 last year, Russian President Vladimir Putin said in the program "Results of the Year with Vladimir Putin" that it is necessary to strengthen the requirements for migrants coming to Russia so that they respect the country in which they live. Putin noted that the population of Central Asia should be trained to work in Russia. Russian schools should be opened there, and culture and language should be taught.
