Russia is preparing a new bill that would introduce stricter medical examination requirements for foreigners entering the country for work. This was announced by Yaroslav Nilov, Chairman of the State Duma Committee on Labor, in a post on his Telegram channel.

Under the proposed legislation, in addition to the existing requirement for medical insurance, migrants would need to present test results proving they are free from narcotic and psychotropic substances. They would also be required to submit updated medical certificates confirming the absence of HIV, hepatitis B and C, tuberculosis, and syphilis.

“Foreigners coming to work in Russia should solve our problems, not their own,” Nilov wrote.

He added that if any of the required medical documents are missing, the individual would be denied entry and returned to their home country.

No further details about the bill have been disclosed so far.

It is worth noting that earlier this week, it was reported that the State Duma is also reviewing a series of legislative proposals aimed at increasing state fees for migrants. According to the draft amendments, foreign citizens or stateless persons would be required to pay 4,200 rubles for issuing or renewing a work patent, another 4,200 rubles for extending a work permit, and 2,100 rubles for issuing a copy of a patent or making changes to it.
