Ravshan Usmanov appointed Uzbekistan’s Ambassador to Ireland

The newly appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Uzbekistan to Ireland, Ravshan Usmanov (based in London), has presented copies of his credentials to Ralph Victory, Head of the Protocol Department at Ireland’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade. This was reported by the Dunyo news agency.

During the meeting, the two sides exchanged views on the prospects for enhancing cooperation between Uzbekistan and Ireland. Special attention was given to strengthening ties in the trade, economic, cultural, and tourism sectors. Agriculture, pharmaceuticals, and renewable energy were identified as particularly promising areas for future collaboration.

At the conclusion of the meeting, the Irish side wished Ambassador Usmanov success in his mission to further develop and expand bilateral relations.

For reference, Ravshan Usmanov is a graduate of the University of World Economy and Diplomacy, Tashkent State University of Law, and the University of Birmingham (UK).

He began his diplomatic career in 2000 and has held various positions at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and at the Embassy of Uzbekistan in Spain. He later headed the Directorate for Cooperation with European Countries and NATO at the Foreign Ministry. Usmanov also served as Ambassador to France and as Deputy Ambassador to Italy and Portugal. From 2018 to 2023, he was Uzbekistan’s Ambassador to Malaysia.

He is currently serving as Uzbekistan’s Ambassador to the United Kingdom and was recently appointed as the first Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Uzbekistan to Iceland.

It should be recalled that earlier, Sardor Rustambayev, Uzbekistan’s first Ambassador to the Republic of Maldives (based in New Delhi), presented his credentials to the President of the Maldives, Mohamed Muizzu.
