Official Tashkent reacts to the explosion in the mosque in Afghanistan

The official Tashkent reacted to the explosion in a mosque in Kabul which occurred on 17 August, killing 21 people and injuring 33 others.

“We feel deep sorrow over of the loss of life and injuries caused by the explosion that occurred during the evening prayer in a mosque in Kabul on 17 August of the current year.

We strongly condemn this attack and hope that every effort will be made to identify the organizers and perpetrators of this barbaric act.

We express our sincere condolences to the family and friends of the victims and wish those who suffered injuries a fast recovery”, - the statement of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan said.

It should be noted that the explosion occurred during evening prayers at the Siddiqiya Mosque in northeast Kabul, the capital of Afghanistan.  The Imam of mosque Mullah Amir Mohammad Kabuliy is said to be among the victims.

In recent months, several provinces in Afghanistan, including the capital region, have witnessed a series of explosions, armed attacks, and shootings that have claimed the lives of both Taliban supporters and civilians.  “The Islamic State” in Khorasan, a branch of the terrorist organization ISIL, claimed responsibility for most of these incidents.
