The Association of Umrah Pilgrimage Travel Agencies has reported that the Umrah pilgrimage has been temporarily suspended in connection with the beginning of this year's Hajj season in Saudi Arabia.  As of the 5th of May, the issuance of Umrah visas has been put on hold, according to a representative of the association. The suspension is a seasonal and regular procedure, and the Umrah pilgrimage will resume at the start of the new 1445 Hijri year, as stated by the representative.

There are unconfirmed reports suggesting that starting from 15th of May, only individuals holding Hajj visas and residents of Makkah will be permitted to enter the city.

Furthermore, the kingdom has issued a warning to all airlines, mandating the departure of Umrah pilgrims by 17th of May.

Additionally, it was announced by the official spokesperson of the Saudi Arabian security service that entry to Makkah Mukarrama will be suspended from 15th of May 2023, until the 25th of Shawwal 1444.  However, individuals with a Hajj permit, an Iqama (residence permit) in Makkah, or a work permit in Makkah will be exempted from this restriction.
