It's Official: Saidov was appointed to the position of Minister of Foreign Affairs

7399Bakhtiyor Odilovich Saidov has been officially confirmed as the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan by decree from the President of the Republic.
The announcement was made by the Presidential Press Service.
Prior to this confirmation, Bakhtiyor Saidov's candidacy has been approved by the deputies of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis. He had been serving as the Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs since 30 December 2022.
Born in Samarkand in 1981, Bakhtiyor Odilovich Saidov graduated from Tashkent State University of Economics in 2002. He previously worked in the Cabinet of Ministers and the Ministry of Investments and Foreign Trade. In January 2016, he became the first deputy chairman and general manager of the "Uzbekengilsanoat" enterprise. From 26 July 2017, he served as the ambassador of Uzbekistan to China, and from 4 April 2018, he concurrently held the position of ambassador to Mongolia. In July 2019, he became the ambassador of Uzbekistan to the Philippines, with his residence in Beijing. From 2021 until the end of 2022, Saidov was the Minister of Public Education of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
It is worth noting that Vladimir Imomovich Norov, the previous Minister of Foreign Affairs, vacated his position to become the director of the International Institute of Central Asia, per the order of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev on 30 December 2022.
