The fact is that a working group determining the month of Ramadan and Eid in the Office of Muslims of Uzbekistan. This working group, consisting of scholars and qualified specialists, is monitoring the new Shawwal crescent on the day of Ramadan, in cooperation with experts from foreign countries. Even representatives of the Working Group are conducting monitoring in the regions of the USA, Turkey, South Korea and Russia.
According to the information received from the prestigious astronomy centers abroad and the Institute of Astronomy under the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the day of Ramadan 2023, that is, the new moon phase of Shawwal this year, will be on Thursday, 20 April at 09:12 a.m. Tashkent time. This will happen at 07:12 a.m. Saudi Arabia time. Astronomers have concluded that on this day, the crescent moon of Shawvol will not be visible in the territory of Uzbekistan, but it will be visible in some other regions of the world.
According to the sources of Hanafi jurisprudence, the sighting of a new crescent in one place makes it permissible for all Muslims in the world to celebrate Ramadan.
Jumhur scholars of the Hanafi, Maliki and Hanbali sects agreed to this.
Based on Shariah issues and astronomical calculations, the new moon of the Shawwal month of 1444 Hijri will be observed on 20 April 2023 in some regions of the Earth. Therefore, preliminary conclusions are being made that Eid-ul-Fitr will fall on Friday 21 April 2023. A number of countries, such as the USA, Turkey, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, and Turkmenistan, declared Friday, 21 April this year, as Ramadan Eid.
“Although the day of Eid is known according to astronomical calculations, according to the hadith of the Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace, “Fast when you see the new moon and celebrate Eid when you see the new moon”, the US of this working group , the final conclusions will be presented on 20 April 2023, after receiving the latest information on the observation of the crescent from the representatives of Turkey and Western countries,” the report said.
The office says that one should always be careful when it comes to prayer. The beginning and end of the Ramadan fast is announced only by the mufti of the country, and the faithful Muslims are obliged to follow this fatwa.
“We ask the operators of internet sites and users of social networks not to mislead our people from the real situation by spreading various messages on this issue. During these days, Eid-ul-Fitr in Uzbekistan will be announced in official sources,” the report said.
