“No clear danger in front of our goal from the opponents” – Cannavaro

Yesterday, on November 14, the Uzbekistan national football team defeated Egypt 2-0 in the Al Ain Cup 2025 friendly tournament in the UAE. After the match, Uzbekistan’s head coach Fabio Cannavaro shared his thoughts on the game.

“I am very happy with my players. They gave their best effort. They are trying to learn and improve, showing how strong they can be. Playing against a team like this is not easy, as they have top-class players. But we tried to play carefully from the start. We scored two goals and tried to cover all areas. The result is very important for us, but we need to continue working in the same way,” Cannavaro said during the post-match press conference.

The Italian coach also highlighted concerns regarding the players’ physical condition, noting that it needs improvement.

“We will play Iran for the trophy. We respect them a lot; they are one of the strongest teams in Asia. We will try to cause them problems,” he added.

Cannavaro also spoke about Uzbekistan’s goalkeeper:

“He is performing very well without the ball. Playing against a team like this is tough. Sometimes we gave the opponents chances to strike, but they were unable to create any clear danger in front of our goal.”

For reference, Uzbekistan will face Iran in the tournament final on November 18.
