Representative of Uzbekistan in farewell ceremony for Iranian President was announced

A farewell ceremony for President Ibrahim Raisi will take place tomorrow, May 22, in Tehran, Iran's capital. Uzbekistan's delegation will attend the event, as reported by Sherzod Asadov, the press secretary to the President of Uzbekistan.

"Our delegation will be led by the Speaker of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis, Nurdinjon Ismailov," Asadov announced on his Telegram channel.

Previously, it was reported that the funeral ceremony for President Ibrahim Raisi and his companions, who died in a plane crash, will be held in the evening of May 23 in Mashhad, his hometown in northeastern Iran.

Additionally, it was announced that Iran's current Vice President, Mohammad Mokhber, will serve as interim president. Ali Bagheri Kani, Iran's Deputy Foreign Minister, has been appointed acting Foreign Minister following the death of Hossein Amir Abdollahian. Mohammad Salih Jokar, chairman of the parliament's internal affairs committee, stated that extraordinary presidential elections must be held within 50 days. Iran’s supreme religious leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, has declared five days of mourning for President Raisi and his companions who perished in the helicopter crash. The farewell ceremony for the deceased is scheduled for tomorrow, May 21, in Tabriz.
