Rahmon began his visit to Samarkand by visiting the tomb of Karimov

Today 15 September, President Imamali Rahmon of the Republic of Tajikistan arrived in Samarkand to participate in the meeting of the Council of Heads of State of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization.

The Prime Minister of the Republic of Uzbekistan Abdulla Aripov and other officials welcomed the high-ranking guest at the international airport.

Then the head of Tajikistan visited the memorial complex Khazrat Khizr and laid flowers at the grave of the first President of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov.

It should be remembered that between 15-16 September at the summit of the SCO, to be held in Samarkand, attendees will include the heads of State and governments of Russia, China, India, Pakistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Belarus, Iran, Mongolia, Turkey, Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan.

President of Mongolia Ukhnagiin Khurelsukh, President of the Islamic Republic of Iran Ebrahim Raisi, President of the Kyrgyz Republic Sadyr Japarov, President of the People’s Republic of China Xi Jinping have already arrived in Samarkand.

Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said he would not participate in the summit due to the armed conflict on the Azerbaijani-Armenian border.
