Putin's man warns Uzbekistan and 5 countries about the threat of the USA

US military exercises in Central Asia, including several countries which are members of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, are necessary for the Americans to study a potential theater of operations, to clarify objectives and maps.  This was relayed by the secretary of the Security Council of the Russian Federation Nikolai Patrushev.

Previously unpublished fragments of Patrushev’s speech at the meeting of the Secretaries of the SCO Security Council held on 19 August in Tashkent were published on 23 August, in the newspaper "Arguments and Facts".

Here, the topic is going to be about the exercises “Regional cooperation-2022”, which began on 10 August in Tajikistan under the command of the United States with the participation of soldiers from Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Mongolia, and Pakistan.

“I would like to remind our partners that the Americans need such events, first of all, to study the theater of possible conflicts, clarify the coordinates of future targets, and adapt digital maps for high-precision weapons.  I hope that all SCO member states now realize that these American initiatives represent a great threat to our security," - Patrushev said.

As the Secretary of the Security Council of Russia noted, Washington is not abandoning efforts to reach an agreement with the countries neighboring Afghanistan on the creation of supposedly temporary infrastructure for counter-terrorism operations there.  From this point of view, Moscow reacts to the exercises “Regional cooperation-2022.”

For reference, the SCO summit is scheduled for 15-16 September.  It currently includes Russia, India, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, China and Pakistan, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan. Observer countries: Afghanistan, Belarus, Iran, and Mongolia, partner countries: Armenia, Azerbaijan, Cambodia, Nepal, Sri Lanka, and Turkey.  Recently, many countries have expressed their desire to join the SCO. In particular, the summit in Samarkand is expected to finalize the procedures for Iran’s accession and to give Egypt, Qatar, and Saudi Arabia the status of dialogue partners.  The application of Belarus to join SCO as a full member is also being studied.
