Putin arrives in Samarkand

Currently, Russian President Vladimir Putin has arrived in Uzbekistan to participate in the meeting of the Council of Heads of State of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization as an honorary guest.

Prime Minister of the Republic of Uzbekistan Abdulla Aripov and other officials met the high-ranking guest at Samarkand International Airport.

On the first day of the visit, high-level negotiations will be held, and topical issues of further development and strengthening of multilateral cooperation between Uzbekistan and Russia will be discussed.

As a result of the negotiations, it is planned that a bilateral document aimed at raising the quality of the strategic partnership between Uzbekistan and Russia to a new level, will be signed.

On 16 September, Russian President Vladimir Putin will participate in the next summit of the leaders of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization.

It should be recalled that between 15-16 September, the 22nd meeting of the Council of Heads of State of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization will be held under the chairmanship of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev.

The SCO Summit will be attended by the heads of State and the government of Russia, China, India, Pakistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Belarus, Iran, Mongolia, Turkey, Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan.

President of Mongolia Ukhnagiin Khurelshukh, President of the Islamic Republic of Iran Ebrahim Raisi, President of the Kyrgyz Republic Sadyr Japarov, President of the People’s Republic of China Xi Jinping, President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon, President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov have already arrived in Samarkand.

Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said he would not participate in the summit due to the armed conflict on the Azerbaijani-Armenian border.
