Shavkat Mirziyoyev fired Jahangir Ortiqkhojayev

A meeting on the supply of energy resources has begun in the presence of the President.

"I am deeply worried and saddened by the mood and emotions of every family and every person suffering from the cold," said the head of state.

It was noted that the situation that has arisen has clearly shown how the leaders of the sectors and regions have worked until today.  In particular, Tashkent city leaders at all levels were sharply criticized for not being ready for the current situation.

As a result of the fact that the Master Plan of the capital has not yet been approved, the number of objects built without permission has exceeded 250, when construction is allowed, the load on the existing infrastructure is not accurately calculated, and measures should be taken to prevent food from freezing in the markets, and to prevent price increases.  Capital authorities strongly protested for not doing so.

Therefore, the mayor of Tashkent city, Jahangir Ortiqkhojayev, was dismissed from his post today, due to a pre-assessment of the situation and insufficient preparation for the winter season.

First Deputy Mayor of Tashkent Bakhtiyor Rahmonov was appointed acting Mayor of Tashkent, and Deputy Prosecutor General Erkin Yoldoshev was appointed City Prosecutor.
